Emergency Preparedness Training

Training is an integral component to preparation. To better prepare public health employees and key partners to respond to emergencies, the Office of Emergency Preparedness provides training and information for access to other training venues applicable to the public health/emergency response needs.

All emergency responders are mandated by the Department of Homeland Security to comply with National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) requirements. This insures that all responders use the same organizational structure, terminology, procedures and systems. To accomplish this all Public Health Employees are required to complete the following:

· IS 100 – Introduction to Incident Command  http://training.fema.gov/emiweb/is/is100b.asp

Core Competencies in Emergency Preparedness for Public Health Workers is a required course for all new NCHD employees. The course provides a basic overview of both the individual worker and the Public Health system's role in emergency preparedness. Core Competencies is offered quarterly and is scheduled for the following dates:

• January 14, 2013 in the Bibb County Health Department Training Room A
• April 29, 2013 in the Bibb County Health Department Training Room A
• July 29, 2013
• October 28, 2013

All classes are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and will be held in the District Office unless otherwise specified.
