Central Georgia Medical Reserve Corps
Emergency Preparedness for Special Needs
Because of the CGMRC's medical focus, volunteers are particularly concerned for individuals who have special medical needs because these individuals often require more planning for emergencies. Some examples of invididuals who should make special emergency considerations are: people with medical conditions and/or disabilities, people with special dietary requirements, hearing or vision barriers, individuals with service animals, anyone needing special transportation, etc.
To assist these individuals with planning, the CGMRC has developed a presentation specifically designed to teach participants how to create an emergency plan that considers their medical needs. This presentation is called, “Emergency Preparedness for Special Needs Populations.”
The presentation lasts approximately an hour, but can be adjusted if needed. It also can be generalized to simply talk about emergency/disaster planning for the general public. To request a presentation for your organization, click here or call (478) 207-1411.
